Tiny fat particles may hold key to heart disease in obesity

NCT ID NCT06408961

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at tiny particles called extracellular vesicles that are released from fat tissue. Researchers want to understand how these particles carry signals that may affect the heart and liver in people with obesity. About 100 adults having weight-loss surgery will provide fat and blood samples. The goal is to learn more about how these signals relate to heart disease and diabetes, not to test a new treatment.
