Summary
This study tests three new types of pulse oximeters (devices that measure oxygen in the blood) for children under 2 years old with pneumonia in Cape Town, South Africa. The goal is to see if these devices help healthcare workers correctly identify low oxygen levels and refer children for the right care. About 936 children will take part, and the study also tracks how common low oxygen is and the risks for death in this setting.
