New heat treatment could zap pancreatic cysts before they turn deadly

NCT ID NCT05961982

First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a less invasive procedure called endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) to treat pancreatic cysts that have a high risk of turning into cancer. The goal is to shrink these cysts by at least half, potentially preventing cancer without the need for major surgery. About 84 adults with pancreatic cysts will receive this heat-based treatment during a routine scope exam, and researchers will monitor their safety and how well it works.
