New vaccine shows promise against Traveler's diarrhea in early trial

NCT ID NCT06692907

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested an experimental vaccine (CssBA+dmLT) to see if it can prevent moderate-to-severe diarrhea caused by ETEC bacteria, a common cause of traveler's diarrhea. About 72 healthy adults received either the vaccine or a placebo, then were exposed to the bacteria in a controlled setting. The goal was to measure how well the vaccine protects against diarrhea and to check for any side effects.
