Heart health mystery: do statins and quercetin change estrogen in older women?

NCT ID NCT05877235

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at 60 postmenopausal women with stable coronary artery disease to see how the statin atorvastatin and the natural compound quercetin affect estrogen levels and a protein called SIRT1. The goal was to understand possible links between these treatments and hormones, not to test a new cure or treatment. Participants took the medications and supplements as assigned, and researchers measured blood levels of estradiol, estrone, and SIRT1.
