Can estrogen explain why older women suffer more in heat waves?

NCT ID NCT06798571

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at how estrogen levels affect the way women's bodies handle heat. Researchers will compare women before and after menopause (ages 42-64) to see if low estrogen makes it harder to cool down. Participants will be exposed to mild heat while their skin blood flow, sweating, and core temperature are measured. The goal is to understand why older women face greater health risks during heat waves.
