NCT ID NCT05618210

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compared two types of nerve blocks (ESPB and rhomboid block) for controlling pain after lung surgery. 76 adults having a lobectomy via VATS were randomly assigned to receive one of the blocks with bupivacaine. The goal was to see which block better reduces pain and the need for opioid painkillers after surgery.

What this could lead to

If one block works better, it could lead to less pain and fewer opioids after lung surgery, helping patients recover more comfortably.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with 76 people. Results may not apply to everyone, and individual responses to nerve blocks can vary.
