First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special nerve block called the erector spinae plane (ESP) block can provide better pain relief after flexible ureterorenoscopy (URS) surgery for kidney stones. 70 adults were randomly assigned to receive either the ESP block plus standard pain management or standard pain management alone. Researchers measured pain levels, opioid use, and side effects like nausea in the first 24 hours after surgery.
