Major study to compare treatments for dangerous vein bleeding

Summary

This study will follow about 1,384 people with high blood pressure in the liver (portal hypertension) that causes swollen veins in the esophagus or stomach. Researchers will compare those who get endoscopic treatment (using a scope) with those who get other treatments like medicine or surgery. The goal is to see which approach works better to prevent bleeding and other complications.
