Could a special gel help dental implants take root better?
NCT ID NCT07150858
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding erythropoietin to a platelet-rich fibrin gel helps bone grow better during sinus lifting for dental implants. Twenty adults with low bone height in the upper jaw will receive either the erythropoietin-enhanced gel or the standard gel during implant placement. Researchers will measure pain, swelling, implant stability, and bone gain over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
erythropoietin and albumin platelet-rich fibrin gel
What this could lead to
If it works, this could improve bone healing and implant stability for people needing dental implants in the upper jaw with low bone height.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply widely. The added benefit of erythropoietin over the standard gel is uncertain.
