Summary
This study tested whether a special, multi-step recovery plan could help children get home sooner after having their appendix removed. The plan, called Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), bundles over 20 small care steps before, during, and after the operation to manage pain, stress, and other issues. Researchers compared this plan to usual care in 82 children to see if it safely shortened hospital stays and improved recovery.
