Summary
This study looked at a type of cell stress called endoplasmic reticulum stress in 53 adults having heart surgery with a heart-lung machine. Researchers took blood samples before and after the machine was used to measure changes in stress markers. The goal was to better understand inflammation during surgery, not to test a treatment.
