Could epilepsy and its meds keep food in your stomach before surgery?

NCT ID NCT07421661

Summary

This study aims to see if people with epilepsy have food or liquid left in their stomachs before surgery, even after following the usual fasting rules. Researchers will use a quick, painless ultrasound scan on the stomachs of about 30 adults with epilepsy who are scheduled for surgery. The goal is to gather information that could help determine if fasting guidelines need to be changed for people with epilepsy to make anesthesia safer.
