Magnesium in epidurals may prevent post-C-section bladder trouble

NCT ID NCT06442995

First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding magnesium sulfate to the epidural during a C-section can lower the chance of needing a catheter afterward due to urinary retention. About 1 in 3 women have trouble urinating after C-section, which can be painful and increase infection risk. Researchers will compare magnesium versus placebo in 290 women to see if it helps.
