Better back tubes for surgery pain? study tests two designs
NCT ID NCT02159560
Summary
This study compared two types of epidural catheters (thin tubes placed in the back to deliver pain medication) to see which works better for controlling pain after chest or abdominal surgery. Researchers tested whether catheters with multiple side holes provide more effective and longer-lasting pain relief than those with a single hole. The study involved 240 adults who were expected to use epidural pain relief for more than 24 hours after their operations.
