New hope for down syndrome vision loss: corneal crosslinking trial launches
NCT ID NCT07135167
First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests an experimental eye treatment called corneal crosslinking (CXL) for people with Down syndrome who have a condition that makes the front of the eye thin and misshapen, causing blurry vision. The treatment uses vitamin B2 drops and ultraviolet light to strengthen the cornea and stop vision from getting worse. The study will enroll 225 participants aged 8 and older and follow them for 6 months to see if the treatment slows disease progression.
