New lens aims to sharpen Mid-Range vision after cataract removal
NCT ID NCT06333015
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new type of artificial lens (enVista Beyond) for people having cataract surgery. The lens is designed to improve intermediate vision, like seeing a computer screen, while still providing good distance and near vision. About 304 adults will receive the lens in both eyes and be followed for several months to check safety and effectiveness compared to a standard lens.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
enVista Beyond Extended Depth of Focus Intraocular Lens (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this lens could give cataract patients better intermediate vision (like seeing a computer screen) without needing glasses, while still seeing well at distance and near.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage study with 304 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Some people may still need glasses for certain tasks, and there are typical surgical risks like infection or lens dislocation.
