First seen Mar 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looked at how doctors discuss noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) with pregnant women during their first visit. NIPT is a blood test that checks for certain genetic conditions in the baby. The goal was to learn how to help women make better-informed decisions about whether to have the test. About 691 pregnant women took part, and researchers observed the conversations to see how well doctors and patients shared in the decision-making process.
