First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a program called Enlace Familiar, designed to help Latino teenagers ages 14-18 talk about their mental health with parents or trusted adults. The program involves two sessions with a community health worker and a list of mental health resources. Researchers want to see if it improves communication and is acceptable to families. The study includes 64 teens and uses surveys and interviews to measure results.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Enlace Familiar (behavioral intervention delivered by community health workers)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, culturally sensitive way to help Latino teens open up about mental health and connect with resources.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 64 participants, so results may not apply broadly. It measures communication, not clinical outcomes, and the intervention is very brief.
