First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 1 trial tests the safety and tolerability of enicepatide, a potential weight-loss drug, in 36 generally healthy Chinese adults with a BMI of 23 or higher. Participants will receive either the drug or a placebo by injection, and researchers will monitor side effects and how the drug moves through the body. The study is not yet recruiting and is focused on safety, not weight loss.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Enicepatide (also known as RO7795068, CT-388, RG6640)
What this could lead to
If safe and effective, enicepatide could become a new weight-loss treatment for people with excess weight.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 safety study with only 36 participants. It is not designed to prove weight loss, and many early drugs fail to show benefit or have side effects.
