Clot removal up to a week after stroke may boost recovery
NCT ID NCT07699029
First seen Jul 13, 2026 · Last updated Jul 31, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This trial investigates whether a procedure to remove blood clots from arteries in the back of the brain can improve recovery in people who had a stroke more than 24 hours ago but within the last 7 days. Participants will either receive standard medication alone or the clot-removal procedure plus medication. The study aims to see if more people achieve functional independence at 90 days with the added procedure.

- If effective, this could extend the treatment window for certain strokes, offering a chance for better recovery even days after symptoms begin.
