New pill may help sleep apnea patients stick with CPAP

NCT ID NCT05951023

First seen Dec 26, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether a safe sleep medication can help people with obstructive sleep apnea use their CPAP machine for more hours each night. Many patients struggle to keep the mask on all night, often because they wake up easily. The trial gave a hypnotic drug to raise the arousal threshold, aiming to improve CPAP adherence. 42 adults with sleep apnea who already used CPAP but not enough took part in this pilot study.
