New keyhole back surgery may offer faster recovery for spinal stenosis patients

NCT ID NCT07562035

First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compared a newer, less invasive keyhole surgery (endoscopic decompression) with traditional open back surgery for people with lumbar spinal stenosis, a condition that causes leg pain and trouble walking. Thirty-six adults who needed surgery were randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. Researchers measured pain, walking ability, and recovery over six months to see which approach worked better and had fewer complications.
