Endometriosis pain mystery: is your nervous system making sex hurt more?
NCT ID NCT03216330
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at 56 women with endometriosis to see if severe deep pain during sex is linked to a condition called central sensitization, where the nervous system becomes overly sensitive to pain. Participants completed daily pain surveys and underwent a pain-pressure test over six weeks. The goal was to better understand the causes of sexual pain, not to test a new treatment.
