Painless pap Follow-Up? study tests gentler cervical sampling tool

NCT ID NCT04000477

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study compared two methods of collecting tissue from the cervix (endocervical curettage) in women with abnormal Pap smears. The goal was to see if using a soft brush (cytobrush) causes less pain than the standard metal tool (Kevorkian curette) while still getting enough tissue for diagnosis. Only 3 women took part before the study was stopped early, so results are limited.
