First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at whether measuring carbon dioxide in a person's breath (called end-tidal CO₂) can help doctors quickly identify severe blood clots in the lungs and see if treatment is working. Researchers studied 120 adults, including those with different levels of clot severity and healthy volunteers. The goal was to see if this simple, noninvasive test could replace more complex procedures for guiding emergency care.
