First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a structured training program called 'EMS Back-Up' for paramedics. The program includes lectures, hands-on workshops, and simulations to improve how paramedics lift and move patients. Researchers will measure if the training improves technique, knowledge, and reduces physical strain. 60 active-duty paramedics are being recruited.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to safer patient handling practices and fewer injuries among paramedics.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The training's long-term impact on injury rates is not directly measured.
