Emergency rooms tested as new front door for HIV prevention

NCT ID NCT04429971

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether it's practical to start people on HIV prevention medication (PrEP) right in the emergency room. The goal was to reach high-risk adults who might not have a regular doctor. Researchers gave eligible patients a 'starter pack' of medication in the ER and helped connect them to follow-up care.
