First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a drug called ELGN-2112 in 60 very premature infants (born before 26 weeks) and growth-restricted infants (born 26-32 weeks). The goal is to see if the drug is safe compared to a placebo. If it works, it could help these fragile babies absorb nutrients better.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a safe treatment to help preterm and growth-restricted infants absorb nutrients better.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 safety study with only 60 infants, so it may not show clear benefit. The drug could still have side effects not yet seen.
