Tasty liquid diet trial offers new hope for taming painful IBD flares

NCT ID NCT07143188

Summary

This study is testing if a specially formulated, easy-to-digest liquid diet can help adults manage sudden worsening of their inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) symptoms, known as a flare. The goal is to see if adding this diet to usual care can reduce symptoms and lower the need for steroid medications, which can have significant side effects. Researchers will enroll 42 adults with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis who are experiencing a flare but do not need hospital care.
