Liquid diet trial offers hope for rare double disease sufferers
NCT ID NCT03983837
Summary
This study tested whether a special, nutrient-rich liquid diet could improve gut bacteria and ease bowel inflammation in people with two related conditions: chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Three participants, aged 8 to 65, followed the diet for up to four weeks, staying in the hospital for part of the time. Researchers checked if changing the gut's bacterial environment could reduce symptoms without the risks of strong immune-suppressing drugs.
