Can a simple computer Pop-Up stop doctors from overtreating seniors?

NCT ID NCT03704389

Summary

This study tested whether gentle reminders in doctors' computer systems could help reduce unnecessary medical care for older adults. Researchers focused on three common areas: overtreating diabetes, over-testing for urinary infections without symptoms, and unnecessary prostate cancer screening in older men. The goal was to see if these low-cost 'nudges' could help doctors follow best practices more easily.
