Could a pill after surgery keep early lung cancer from coming back?
NCT ID NCT07686185
First seen Jul 07, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how well third-generation EGFR-targeted drugs work as follow-up treatment after surgery for people with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer that has certain high-risk features. Researchers will observe about 500 patients in China who have EGFR mutations and have had their stage IA tumor removed. The goal is to see if taking these drugs for three years helps prevent the cancer from returning and to track any side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- third-generation EGFR-TKIs (osimertinib, aumolertinib, furmonertinib)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that targeted therapy after surgery helps prevent early-stage lung cancer from returning in high-risk patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so results may be less conclusive. The therapy may not benefit all patients and could cause side effects.
