Summary

This study tested whether efgartigimod injections could help adults with moderate to severe bullous pemphigoid, a rare autoimmune disease that causes painful skin blisters. Researchers compared the injection against a placebo in 98 participants to see if it could control disease activity and help patients reduce or stop steroid medications. The goal was to achieve complete healing of skin lesions while minimizing the need for steroids that often cause significant side effects.
