Brain waves guide anesthesia for safer medical scopes

NCT ID NCT06866886

Summary

This study tested whether using a special brain monitor (a 4-channel EEG) could help doctors better manage sedation during a complex digestive procedure called ERCP. The goal was to give patients the right amount of anesthesia to keep them safe and comfortable, potentially leading to a faster recovery. Researchers compared standard monitoring to EEG-guided monitoring in 84 patients to see if it improved outcomes.
