Brain waves could hold key to preventing surgery confusion in seniors

Summary
This study aims to see if monitoring brain waves during surgery can help doctors better adjust pain medication to reduce confusion and delirium in older patients after their operation. Researchers will recruit 600 adults aged 60+ undergoing elective non-cardiac surgery lasting at least 2 hours. They'll test two different medication approaches guided by brain wave patterns to see which better prevents post-surgery confusion.
