New brain scan combo could pinpoint seizure source for surgery

NCT ID NCT03278210

Summary

This study tested whether combining two brain scan techniques (EEG and fMRI) helps doctors more accurately locate the area causing seizures in people with hard-to-treat focal epilepsy. The goal was to see if this combined scan could improve decisions about who is a good candidate for surgery and help plan the operation. Researchers compared surgery outcomes and quality of life between patients who had this extra scan and those who did not.
