New heart valve offers hope for High-Risk patients
NCT ID NCT04408430
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study is for people with a severely hardened mitral valve (mitral annular calcification) that causes symptoms like shortness of breath and fatigue, but who are too high-risk for open-heart surgery. The trial will test a new way to replace the valve using a thin tube inserted through a vein in the leg (transseptal approach). Researchers will track how well the valve works and whether it reduces deaths and hospital stays over one year. About 210 participants will be enrolled.
