Swollen knees may mess with pain relief devices after surgery
NCT ID NCT06153277
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looks at whether swelling (edema) after knee replacement surgery affects how a TENS machine needs to be adjusted for pain relief. Researchers will test three different TENS modes on 125 patients before and after surgery, comparing the affected leg to the healthy one. The goal is to understand if swollen tissue changes the electrical current needed, which could help improve pain management after knee replacement.
