ER stays longer to kickstart opioid recovery

NCT ID NCT05064826

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study compares two ways of starting treatment for opioid use disorder in the emergency department: a standard visit versus an extended observation stay. About 170 adults who are not already in treatment will be randomly assigned to one approach. The goal is to see if the longer visit helps more people begin medication like buprenorphine and stay connected to addiction care.
