ER asthma rescue: new inhaler strategy aims to cut relapses

NCT ID NCT07166939

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving patients with acute asthma a specific inhaler (Airsupra) right in the emergency department can reduce the chance of another asthma attack needing urgent care within 3 months. About 1,860 adults aged 18 to 55 who are being sent home from the ER with steroids will either get Airsupra as their rescue inhaler or continue usual care. The goal is to see if this approach improves asthma control and lowers the need for repeat emergency visits.
