Experimental Heart-Lung machine offers lifeline to dying patients awaiting transplant

NCT ID NCT06770023

Summary

This small, early-stage study is testing whether a specialized heart-lung bypass machine can safely keep critically ill patients with severe pulmonary hypertension and heart failure alive long enough to receive a lung transplant. The device is inserted through a vein and is designed to support the failing right side of the heart. Researchers will closely monitor four patients to see if they survive to transplant and track serious complications.
