First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at whether people with a low-risk staph bloodstream infection (based on the VIRSTA score) can safely skip a heart ultrasound. About 700 adults will be randomly assigned to get the ultrasound or not. The goal is to see if skipping the test leads to similar rates of death or repeat infection.
