Could a common HIV drug hold the key to taming multiple sclerosis?

NCT ID NCT05957913

Summary

This study is testing whether Truvada, an antiviral medication, can reduce levels of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers believe EBV might trigger MS, so lowering the virus could help control the disease. The trial will enroll 50 adults with MS who have EBV to see if the drug is safe and reduces virus levels in saliva and blood.
