Does suction help or hurt lung biopsies? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT04116970
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at two methods of collecting tissue samples from lymph nodes in people with suspected lung cancer. During a standard procedure called EBUS-TBNA, doctors sometimes use suction to help gather more material. The trial will compare samples taken with and without suction to see which method gives better quality tissue with less blood. About 50 adults with possible lung cancer spread to lymph nodes will take part.
