New biopsy combo could sharpen lung cancer diagnosis
NCT ID NCT07488507
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding a freezing biopsy (cryobiopsy) to the standard needle biopsy improves diagnosis of lung cancer that has spread to the chest. About 240 adults with suspicious chest lymph nodes will get both procedures. The goal is to see if the combo finds cancer more accurately and helps guide treatment decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more accurate and safer way to diagnose lung cancer that has spread to the chest, helping doctors choose the right treatment sooner.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study focused on diagnostic accuracy, not treatment. The added cryobiopsy may not improve results and could carry extra risks like bleeding or infection.
