Short on sleep? shrinking your eating window might save your heart

NCT ID NCT06070194

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether limiting food intake to 8 hours a day can lower blood pressure and improve blood sugar control in people who habitually sleep 6.5 hours or less per night. Researchers will compare the usual long eating period to a restricted 8-hour eating window over 4 weeks. The goal is to see if this simple change can reduce cardiovascular and metabolic risks in short sleepers.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

time restricted eating (8-hour eating window)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple lifestyle change to lower heart and metabolic risks in people who don't get enough sleep.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 100 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and sticking to an 8-hour eating window can be hard to maintain long-term.
