Early eye surgery may prevent retinal detachment after bleeding
NCT ID NCT04676256
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether early surgery (vitrectomy) or waiting with ultrasound monitoring is better for people with sudden, dense bleeding inside the eye. The goal was to see if early surgery could lower the chance of the retina detaching. Only 8 adults with recent bleeding from a detached vitreous gel took part. The results help guide treatment decisions for this eye emergency.
