MRI scans could decide when to replace heart valves in silent danger

NCT ID NCT03094143

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at people with severe aortic stenosis (a narrowed heart valve) who don't have symptoms yet. Doctors use MRI scans to find early heart muscle scarring, which can predict future problems. Participants with scarring are randomly assigned to either early valve replacement surgery or standard care. The goal is to see if early surgery reduces deaths and hospital visits.
