Eat only between 8 AM and 4 PM: could this simple change improve asthma?

NCT ID NCT07345572

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether eating all your meals between 8 AM and 4 PM (early time-restricted eating) can improve health and quality of life. Researchers will compare results in 36 adults—some with mild, well-controlled asthma and some without asthma. Participants eat their normal food, just within a shorter daily window, for one week.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

early time-restricted eating (eTRE)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary timing strategy to improve lung function and quality of life in people with mild asthma.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage study (36 participants) testing only a one-week diet change. Results may not apply to people with moderate or severe asthma, and the short duration limits what can be concluded.
